RECOGNISING THE NEED FOR AUTOMATED ABRASIVE BLASTING
The Sabre system originally came about as a way of cleaning and maintaining the Sydney Harbour Bridge while keeping its’ workers safe from harm.
THE SABRE IS A SYSTEM WITH YEARS OF RESEARCH BEHIND IT
Way back in 2006, researchers from the Centre for Autonomous Systems at the University of Technology, Sydney and the Roads and Maritime Services NSW (RMS) began collaborating on the research and development of an autonomous grit-blasting system for steel bridge maintenance and rehabilitation.
SABRE Autonomous Solutions was established in 2013 to develop the technology for the broader abrasive blasting industry in Australia and overseas. The specialised robotic platform developed for the Sydney Harbor Bridge was then manufactured and designed into a production quality system suited to a wide range of tasks.
BURWELL TECHNOLOGIES IS A KEY STRATEGIC PARTNER
Burwell Technologies is the leading manufacturer and distributor of Air Blast Equipment, Custom Built Blast Rooms, Dust Extraction Systems, Abrasives and accessories for the surface preparation industry.
Burwell Technologies recognises the potential for Sabre systems to revolutionise the abrasive blasting industry as we know it and they have provided their industry expertise to help commercialise the system.
SABRE AUTONOMOUS SOLUTIONS ESTABLISHES A USA BASE
The potential for Sabre systems to make a mark in the USA sector lead to the birth of Sabre Autonomous Solutions USA in 2018.
The sheer number of steel bridges in the country alone could benefit greatly from an autonomous blasting system such as Sabre.
SHELL GAMECHANGER AND SABRE COLLABORATE
As of 2019, Sabre and Shell GameChanger have collaborated to further developments toward achieving zero-injury risk mitigation in confined spaces, and overall cost savings.
